White Mountains, New Hampshire
With warm childhood memories of the White Mountains, our client wanted to build her own mountain retreat for extended family to gather. Elizabeth Swartz Interiors worked closely with the architect, builder and landscape architect making this a truly collaborative effort from start to finish. The outcome is a three-building estate including a small guest house, spacious main house, and sun-filled pool house. Early involvement on this project allowed the firm to carefully design spaces for mixed use whether relaxing in privacy or gathering together in larger groups. Each room is inspired by the natural surroundings, bringing the outside in. Using modern outdoor motifs, rustic materials such as locally sourced stone, and natural woods, the client’s traditional aesthetic was fused with mountain lodge elements to create a series of spaces that harmoniously flow together yet each with distinct details to set them apart. The final touches included working with various crafts-people detailing custom lighting fixtures, furnishings, and window and wall treatments to refine each interior bringing on a depth of modern rustic elegance. This property has been featured in New Hampshire Home magazine.
