Do you have a soft spot for Chinoiserie?
If so, you might just love the new Mary McDonald Collection for Schumacher Fabrics.
This is a glamorous selection of fabrics, trimmings and appliqués that blends classic Chinoiserie with bright colors and bold patterns. In this collection, Mary McDonald reinterprets traditional textile designs in a clean, graphic style. Beautiful velvets, matelasse and delicate linen prints are embellished with embroidery tapes and appliqués creating a luxurious and elegant mix.
In the breathtaking Chinois Palais, Mary McDonald shows her appreciation for both French classical interiors and Far East modernism. This finely woven linen print was derived from an antique Chinese painted silk mural that featured exotic birds among a flowering tree of peonies and cherry blossoms.
Other fabrics in the collection balance texture, color and style to create a stunning assortment that is fresh and exciting. Here are a few standouts: Firenze, which provides a new twist on the classic chevron pattern; Garden of Persia, a modern take on the silhouette of antique Persian rugs; and Park Avenue Python, which shows that sleek refinement can mix well with rock-and-roll glamour.
Schumacher Fabrics points out that, “Mary’s high spirit and vivacious personality is beautifully woven throughout this entire collection filled with design treasures that when brought together balance sophistication with comfort to create a cohesive space where one can truly live.”
