Green Mountains, Vermont
After an unsuccessful search for a farmhouse to renovate, this city family relocating to Vermont was delighted to find a picturesque piece of property in the Green Mountains on which to build a new home. Elizabeth Swartz Interiors had the opportunity to work on the project from the outset. The clients wanted to create a home in which their family could live comfortably as well as host extended family and friends. In full collaboration with the architect and builder, the design oriented the new construction on the mountainside to take advantage of the expansive views and western exposure. The home includes contemporary elements like high ceilings and tall windows coupled with traditional architectural details to create a home with historical presence. The homeowners love color; deep historical rich reds & blues married with contemporary teals accented by warm natural woods were chosen. To root this new home further, local Vermont materials such as fieldstone for the fireplace and slate flooring were sourced, and local craftsmen hired to create custom detailing throughout the home. This property has been featured on Houzz and in Cottage Country magazine.
