Celebrating this Vermont home’s magnificent Green Mountain setting, Elizabeth Swartz Interiors, created a mountain home that brings the rich hues of the outdoors in. This spacious retreat was inspired by the Shingle-style homes commonly found in New England in the late 1800’s. This is reflected in the choice of windows with divided lights and “bump-out spaces like bay windows with window seats.” The design included stained knotty pine paneling and a fieldstone fireplace and chimney to create warmth and Vermont charm while adding jewel tones and rich fabrics for traditional elegance. “[The homeowner] was leaving a Colonial home in Westchester that was much more formal…[but] didn’t want this new home to feel like a ski house.”
