Susanna Salk Lecture for New England Interior Designers
I recently had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Susanna Salk, design insider and writer, at the Boston Design Center. As a regular guest on NBC’s Today Show, Susanna offers tips and information on design style for the home. Previously she helped launch Elle Decor Magazine and is currently a Contributing Editor for two popular online interior design magazines. Click here for more information on Susanna Salk. For this BDC Lecture Series presentation “Designing Outside the Box: Using Social Media to Share Your Design Aesthetic with the World”, Susanna shared her knowledge on creating a voice in the interior design world through social media.
At a luncheon, hosted by the new WaterSpot Showroom by Ardente Supply , that followed the seminar, a photographer from the Boston Design Center’s for-the-trade publication, Cybele, caught up with me while I was chatting with fellow New England ASID Interior Designer, Lisa Bonneville, ASID of Bonneville Design. (Lisa and I are in the bottom left photo above). The presentation was informative & I was very interested to discuss with Lisa as well as other interior designers what others in the industry were currently doing with regards to their social media.
With the many social media venues available today – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to name a few – it is hard to decide where and how to go about promoting my interior design business. Then there are also the Interior Design specific social sites like Houzz, Room Reveal and Interior Design Pro. Susanna discussed how Interior Designers can incorporate these social media marketing tools into an online marketing plan, to both build our brand recognition, and enable more people to see our design work.
Do you use social media to keep up with your favorite interior designers and current interior design trends?
